A2 Preliminary Music Video

A2 Preliminary Evaluation Post Production

After filming I looked through the footage and picked out the shots we needed and put them into the editing software. We then got the music we were using for the video and placed it into the editing software and played it through to make sure it was correct and there was no problems with the song.

I then looked at the story board and started organising the shots in order of the story board which also meant i had to assign them the right time length as well. I had to align the lip syncing with the song which took a while because it had to look like they were singing the song because most of the lip syncing clips were close ups so it was easy to tell if they weren't aligned properly. After i had done all this i added in the rest of the shots we had taken and adjusted their time lengths to fit properly with the other videos then played the music video all the way through to make sure there were no breaks between the clips. I added affects in at the beginning to make the music video more interesting and to fill in a small time gap that didn't need any video.

From the editing i learnt that it is very time consuming and that you have to be precise with where you place shots and also the length of the shot has to be correct to.

A2 Preliminary Evaluation Production

When Filming the video we had to make sure that we had all the props needed with us on that day but we also had to make sure the location we have chosen was available to use so we made sure to book it for the time we needed to use it, at the same time we also asked a Technician if they could come along to the hall on those days to show us how to do the lighting and set up the lighting for the shots we needed to take.

When we arrived at our location of the shoot we looked at the story board to make sure we were setting the equipment up correctly and what costumes and props we needed, then we set up the lighting for the shots, we needed the room to be dark but have some white lights shining onto the band so that we can see them on the camera and because it brightens the music video up to give a more happy feel instead of a dark dull video that doesn't make you happy after this we set up the camera angle and shot type (Closeup, Midshot and Longshot) and made sure the focus of the camera was correct for the scene, we looked back at the story board to see the time length that we needed to film the shot for and then started filming. We leart took a long time to set up and shoot just a couple of seconds for the music video and that that the shots have to be right and the set up does to in order for the video to work well with each other.

A2 Preliminary Evaluation Pre-Production

Before we started filming we needed to story board our music video and make lists of props and equiptment that we were going to need and use to make the music video.
We also had to assign roles within the group to make sure everything was organised and everyone knew what they were doing.

When story boarding we go the original video of of youtube and drew out all the shots and wrote the time length for each shot so we could match it up with the video and keep the length correct and timing in sync. Also we used the story board to create alternative shots incase some of the previous shots weren't able to be made/filmed.

We made a list of all the props needed to create the music video and assigned people who had the props to bring them in for certain dates when we needed them.
Some of the props we used:
  • Helmets
  • Drumsticks
  • Guitars
  • Drums
  • Suits
We assigned the roles to the people who best suited them and did this as a group to make sure everyone was happy with the decisions being made.
Some of the roles assigned to people:
  • Director: Sophie Nutt
  • Camera Operator: George Gibson
  • (Lead Singer) Pharrell: Meg Rowland
  • Guitarist 1: Dill Wakeford
  • Guitarist 2: Joe Cuthbertson
We also made a list of locations wee needed to shoot the music video in to make sure we had the right location. We knew we needed a dark location that we can put light up or on to make it a bit brighter.
Here are some of the locations:
  • Main Hall
  • AVS Studio
  • Small Hall
  • Gym
We chose the Main Hall because it had lights built into the ceiling and on the floor that we could use to get the correct lighting for the shots and we were also able to play the music out of the speakers so they could lip sync the song to make it look correct.
