Digipaks Analysis

I Like the creative style of the digipak and how its cut out and uses unique shapes and colours.

I love how they have made their digipak into a book and that they can read through the images and text.

I Like the simplistic shapes and the numbers of the tracks on the CD.

The album cover is made to look like a pocket from some genes or polo shirt which creates a unique effect

I Like how this divi pack is made from wood and it resembles a drawer when you pull the CD out of its case.

The fact that this CD case looks like and envelope is very creative and unique and will attract attention because its so different.

I like how this opens and the way that it holds all the content inside and i also like colours they use.

The velcrow on the corners of this album is different to most but a good idea to stop the album cover from opening so easily.

This casing for the the CD is amazing because of the different material it uses to incase the CD as well as the caseing allowing you to see the CD art etc.

I like how the digipak comes in an house made from card with a booklet full of pictures and that the casing has an image that you can see the CD through.

YOu can hang this casing on a peg etc which is creative and allows you to hang it where you can see the art on the casing.

On this digipak they have made it stand up so that you can look at the art as well as get your CD out easier

Representation In The Music Video

Rosa-Leigh is a nice, talented girl, whose voice makes her unique, not her body. Whereas, artists in many other videos are provocative, sexualised, and adhere to the male gaze, giving themselves an audience by dressing in minimal clothing and dancing wildly. In a world where girls are seen in a more sexualised way, Rosa-Leigh is a positive role model, reflecting that not all teenagers are 'wild child’s’ and have sensible careers and can be passionate about the things they love. Females need a role model to look up to, as lots of celebrities are in the media for the wrong reason, and behave badly in their music videos, just so it catches people's attention. Rosa-Leigh will be different and more like the artists Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding, as they seen as strong female artists that don't appeal to their audience for minimal clothes and wild dancing.

The fact we are basing our video on the natural world, using exterior shots that compliment Rosa-Leigh's natural beauty, shows nature in a good light, as the positive atmosphere that stems from sunlight, trees and greenery, influences the audience to react with feelings of being happy. Instead of using a setting that portrays nature in a bad light, or emphasises the modern world of man-made structures and buildings, we have chosen to show people the natural world through exterior shots, displaying trees, mountains, the sky etc.

The two groups we are appealing to are the Indie Scenesters and the Young Alts. Because we are targeting our video at these tribes, means they will be able to relate to her music and her appearance, as Rosa-Leigh adopts a fashion like the ones they follow. Her almost vintage look, love of jeans and jumpers and shopping in the same shops they do to buy clothes.  The way the tribes react to the video will define how people look at them, as if they don't like the vintage, home-made, natural aspects then they can be seen as uncaring about the world and the environment, spreading negativity about them and not adhering to the stereotypes of their tribe; possible puttingpressure on them to comply to the things they are supposed to like, such as Vintage fashion.

Andrew Goodwin

We have created a star image in which the artist communicates the lyrics to the audience, by singing along and looking into the camera; breaking the fourth wall and creating a connection that entices the viewers, making her a storyteller. The voice of the singer is unique, creating a trademark for our artist, so she is recognisable and sets her apart from other artists.

The authenticity of the performance has been created through the intimate shots and the fact when filming, our artist sung along and didn't lip sync, making the performance look credible.  As we have changed her outfits in the majority of shots, we have made the video interesting and different, meaning the audience will stay interested and possibly want to watch it a few more times, adhering to the theory of repeatability Goodwin suggested.

Illustrate:

The most illustrative clip used in the music video is the shot where Rosa-Leigh sings with her hands over the eyes, demonstrating the lyrics she is singing.

Amplify:

Nature is used constantly throughout the video, "drumming this into our vision". A vintage effect that matches the tone and subtle lyrics is also used in the video.

Disjuncture:

The lyrics of the song are slightly negative; not making a lot of sense and demonstrating the confusion of a disordered mind, however the melody and beat of the song have happy connotations that make the audience want to dance and hum/sing along. We have focused our video on the happy element of the song, completing ignoring the fact the lyrics are deeper than the happy surface of the beat. The natural shots used contrast with lyrics such as 'There's a demon on the loose' but create a carefree, lighthearted atmosphere for the video.

In post production we will edit some shots to follow the beat of the music, cutting them in time with certain drum beats, creating an interesting effect and capturing the audiences attention with a deviation from longer panning shots.
